What is the STEM TY Challenge?

The STEM TY Challenge offers you an experience to interact with the next generation of talent in a highly structured, consistent, output-focused way that also gives back to our local community. We're seeking an industry mentor for a group of teenagers who are putting together a video around a day in the life of somebody pursuing a STEM career.

What's involved

As a mentor, you'll share your expertise and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. Your guidance and support will help students to develop their skills, build confidence, and explore exciting career paths in STEM.

Discover our events

We have events to support all participants starting with a mentor training session for you, leading into our seven student drop-in sessions, mentor debrief, and ending with our showcase event . Mentor meetings will take place at a time coordinated by your mentees and will appear in the calendar below when they details have been confirmed.

As a mentor, you'll develop the skills to help you further your career, achieve professional goals and succeed as leaders in STEM.

This program is extremely rewarding to be involved in and I really enjoyed working with such talented transition year students. It gave me first-hand insights into the students’ perspectives about what a career in STEM looks like to them as well as the challenges they believe they will have to overcome to achieve this. As mentors we are able to share our knowledge on what a career in STEM is like and passing on the tips that we’ve picked up along the way to help shape the futures of these students.
